We live happily in our renovation project together with our dog.
Jeanette:
I’m Norwegian and just turned 30. I grew up on an island in the west coast of Norway. Which is where we now live and bought the house we’re renovating.
I’ve worked at sea for the last 10 years. I work as a DPO (Dynamic positioning Operator) and control room operator on a drilling rig. If you want to hear more about my job feel free to send me an email. Our blog will not be about life at sea, well only if we ever buy a sail boat then we will write about life at sea.
Because of my job I have 8 months off every year which I can use to renovate and travel the world. Which are my big passions and the reason why we started this blog.
As a person I’m very consistent. If I promise to do something- I will do it. I’m always ahead of schedule and like to have things done and ready before it needs to be. So, it’s safe to say that I’m a planner with a big P. I’m also super positive and believe that everything is possible.
Since we started this project, I have learned so much! I can call myself quite handy, even though I’m still only Pascals assistant. I also do our house renovation budget and plan and order all materials that we need.
Pascal:
I’m Dutch and 33 years old. I grew up in Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands. I previously worked as a Service Coordinator in a Dutch windpark, and have experience as a windmill technician. I quit my job one year ago to do home renovations full time. So, the house sucks all my energy these days. I’m glad every time we travel, and can have some rest, doesn’t matter if it’s in Norway or the world. We´re still trying to find a balance to not burn out. We plan for more travel and therefore more rest for 2020.
I do all the electrical work in our house. I’m also doing most of the heavy work and showing Jeanette how all tools should be used and how to do things. So far, we´ve done everything on our own, from changing the roof to putting in new windows to building up a completely new apartment in the basement from scratch, including putting in new concrete floors!
