Location Of Puerto De Mogán
Puerto de Mogán are located on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria. And lays in a steep-sided valley, just at the seaside. The village is located a short 35 minutes drive from the airport. You drive through beautiful landscapes on the way there. And you’ll probably get many ideas on where you should go on day visits as you go. There’s also good bus connections all over the island if you want to travel by bus. Or, rent a car and drive yourself.
To get to the island, check out flights here. Skyscanner is the best page to use to find cheap flights!
Stunning Fishing Village
The village is really something special. All the building looks the same. With colourful details and flowers everywhere.
By the marina you’ll see the first row of these colourful houses.
To wander in these small streets are just so peaceful! Do you want to go here? I (Jeanette) went there in November. And had just a perfect temperature and stay!
The beauty of all the flowers growing in the small alleys makes it seem like you walk in a fairy-tail.
Beach Playa De Mogán
The beach has soft, white sand, and quite a number of chairs for hire. It’s reachable from all parts of the village. You definitely should go here and take a swim in the clear water.
The marina and the beach front are filled with restaurants and bars. Make sure you take a bite there and enjoy the view. Seafood and Sangria are a very popular menu that are served on many of the seaside restaurants.
“Little Venice” Of The Canaries
“Little Venice” is the nick name of Puerto de Mogán. The reason for this is the canals linking the marina and the fishing harbour together.
On your stroll around the village you’ll see many bridges crossing the canals. Take your time to cross some of them. They are really great shortcuts that’ll take you faster from one side to the other.
Where To Stay: Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Gran Canaria Mogan
I stayed at the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Gran Canaria Mogan. This resort is just amazing! I really recommend you to check out this hotel. You’re met with a glas of champagne as you check in. The pool areas and the spa is just wonderful. There are many bars and restaurants inside the area. There are special pools for kids. And adult only pools. The staff is really nice and friendly. And the village and the beach is just a short walk down the valley.
You have your own little balcony with sun-chairs as shown above. And a view over the whole resort.
The rooms are big and spacious. You have a couch, a king size bed, a bathtub and room-service. Would you like to stay here?
Trip To Las Palmas
I stayed 1 night in Las Palmas when I first arrived. Since I arrived from the sea and Las Palmas has a big harbour. But, since the city is only 55 minutes drive from Puerto de Mogán, you can easily visit for only a day trip as well. Las Palmas is the capital of the island. And the biggest city. So if you’re up for some shopping, it’s the place to go. Or, do you fancy a night out? Then you definitely should go here.
Above you see one of the busy main shopping streets in Las Palmas. It’s the ninth biggest city in Spain. So there are quite some shops.
I stayed at the AC Hotel Gran Canaria By Marriot. Which had a really great location. You could walk to everything. Also the beach Playa de Las Canteras is only a short walk away. It’s just around 400 meters from the hotel.
We really hope you got some tips from our short guide to Puerto De Mogán. Would you like to go here? And will you maybe consider a trip to Las Palmas as well? We certainly hope so! Thanks as always for reading. Until next time!
